Human Relationships Destroy Social Media

Image
Especially woman and younger SNS users tend to work more on privacy management than others. From Facebook to Twitter and everything in between, we have tremendous numbers of social media services today, and they are replacing our old ways to communicate, even e-mail services.  According a poll conducted in 2011, 63% of social media users, however,  answered that they deleted users from their friends list; of which 67% was women, and 58% was men. The result showed the fact that the trend is growing at a fast pace, when compared with the poll of 2009. Not only did they delete friends from their list, but also they deleted their comments and tags that identify their names on photos.  Of the all SNS users, 58% is hiding their page from the public, and 19% limit their page only on friends' friends. Only 20% use social media openly. Even though the absolute goal of social media is to connect people to people, it somehow concentrates on circumstances at...

The Number of Mixi Users Decreased From 14-million to 8-million in a Short Time.

Image
Mixi - a Japanese original SNS that enjoyed the No.1 position in popularity a few years ago - now suffer from the dramatic decrease of the number of their users. The decreasing percentage hit an all time low with 57% over last month, while Facebook and Twitter remained unchanged. Google+ is about ready to decrease. With this result, what we can learn is the fact that today's trends are mostly generated in the States, along with Facebook, Twitter, iPhone, iPad, Google and so fourth, and they take the world by storm, except for other exceptions in the inclusion of Samsung, Nokia and the like. London Riots: a Bookstore-Clerk Tweeted Brave Words

Image
Started with a misfire incident, London Riots worsen rather than improve; and the riots are starting to spill over London into other cities of U.K. In light of this situation, a book-store clerk, whose store might have been attacked by violent crowds, bravely uncovered her thought on Twitter. "We'll probably stay open. If they steal some books, they might actually learn something."  How do you view this issue? Japanese Media Pass Yamamoto with Silence

Image
Almost daily, Japanese media has covered Chinese bullet-train's accident in which more than approximately 300 people lost their lives, and claim against Chinese  Communist Party's cover-up operations which they try to decrease the number of the victims. While Japanese media enjoy the neighbor's sorrow, they refuse even to comment on a Japanese actor, Tarou Yamamoto (山本太郎) , who resigned his entertainment agency after the tsunami disaster in March to start his own anti-nuclear-power-plants activity. "What the Japanese government is doing is nothing other than giving up their own future," said Yamamoto in his speech in Ryukoku University (龍谷大学 ), Kyoto . Travelling around Japan, especially affected prefectures, he tries to let general people know what is truly happening in his home country as well as be the incentive to let them think of what they can do to reconstruct Japan without depending on nuclear powers. On the Internet, such as YouTube or his own Tw...

Amid the Tumult of Life: Together but Alone

Image
Along with the rest of the world, the advent of the Internet in Japan ignited Japanese's pent-up feeling to burst into the public, and it let us know the collapse of interpersonal relations. Unlike the previous days, in when the media outlets represented by televisions, newspapers and radios, had one-way communications to the public, people today enjoy to have their own media as having accounts in Facebook, You Tube, Blogger, and the rest of them to let Net users know who they are as well as share what they like with even people halfway around the earth. As with the positive aspects of the Internet, negative aspects are worldwide recognition; one of them is verbal abuses behind the barrier of anonymity. Most of such has the ring of denying people's integrity as human-beings, and it provokes another cycle of grudges on the line without showing any compassion. The abusive languages Japanese use is something nobody can imagine from general aspects of Japanese who often use poli...
