Music of the Day#1: Clean Bandit - Rather Be

Image
A UK band, Clean Bandit filmed their music video, Rather Be, in Tokyo last year, and that was the very first experience for them to film their work so far away from their home country. The most challenging scene, according to them, was filming on a train, where they made a lot of noise. Despite such troubles, they were able to film the great music video with the help of Japanese extras (more precisely, fans) who responded to their announcing to film their music video in Tokyo to participate in the activity.  I think I'm going to be their fan as well. A Ghost (or a Body) Was Captured in a JNN Footage

Image
Recently in Japan, a tour bus bound for Tokyo Disneyland driven by a Chinese driver, who fall asleep at the wheel at the night, led to a fatal accident, resulting in seven passengers's death and fourteen injured.  As it was a huge accident in Japan in the past few years, the news was broadcasted nationwide; and some Japanese Net-users found something weird in a video footage that captured the accident location. A Ghost. Look closer at 1:06 on the video, you would be freaked out. You might also like this post Via: YouTube Rajic

A coversation on the comment column of the video ↓ dontokoton: Please Don't mix the gyudon.Maybe you confused between Gyudon and Bibimbab. OutermostMedia: @dontokoton  No confusion here! I eat Bibimbap every time I travel to Korea.  I also love Gado-Gado in Indonesia and Arroz con Pollo in Cuba. When in Japan I love all sorts of domburi: Tekkadon, oyakodon, tendon--and I mix them all while eating. Thanks for watching! What are they talking about? Not Cool Japan: Pedestrians Block Emergency Car's Way

Image
A shocking video uploaded from Tokyo, Japan, is bearing an attention not only from home, but abroad.  In the video, a large number of pedestrians walking across the Scramble Cross , Japan's most famous pedestrian scramble in the size, interfere with an emergency car. Although they cast slide glances at the car as well as are aware of the situation under which someone in the car is in serious condition, they didn't care about it at all. The video is filled up with negative feedbacks from those whose blood is boiled with anger toward the Japanese pedestrians' careless behavior. As it is said that apathy is maybe the most risky problem we are facing with these days. You might also like this post Via: YouTube Rocket News 24

Tokyo's High-school Girls heavily Made-up Their Faces

Image
They are neither 40-year-old women who try to look themselves much younger nor prostitutes; they are high-school students. While usual students at their age commute to school and study hard, they enjoy (or just waste their time) in  Shibuya , Tokyo, where is considered as the country's trendsetting city, especially for girls. Not Cool Japan: Japanese Doll That Closely Resembles an Existing Person

Image
Gack!! Even though Japanese craftsmen have distinctive skills to create something unbelievably beautiful and cool, if they lost the sense of direction, they sometimes spawn something gross. Jibun-san  ( 自分さん )- Mr. and Mrs. Myself - is the best example of nobody-appreciates-works. this is nothing other than gross, especially when he/she picks a wet head from a plastic bucket.  Oh, Please!! Stay away from me!! For this issue, Japanese Net-users posted their comments: "Okay, I'm sick." "This is just horrible." "I feel sorry for the model of the doll." "Gross!" "Nightmare!" "This is not a joke! You might also like this post: http://thetokyoeye.blogspot.com/2011/11/real-life-jessica-rabbit-resembles-oba.html Via: http://sorega801.blog133.fc2.com/blog-entry-2544.html

Massive Project: Smash the Ice and Get Coke Zero

Image
The video was taken as a promotional movie of Coca-cola Japan. People cooperatively try to smash the large ice to get coca-cola zero in the ice. Even though those in the video pretend like people in general, they all are staged actors or extras from a certain talent agency, according to some Net-users. Truth Behind the Scenes: BBC's "Inside the Meltdown"

Image
As if nothing happened, we rarely have opportunities to know what is happening in Fukushima right now as long as living in Tokyo, while we have a lot of nobody-cares gossip news of Japanese celebrities.  Meanwhile BBC gave a behind-the-scenes coverage of Fukushima and the melt-down. Even though we feel something odd is going on, nobody puts it into words openly. Dave Spector: American TV Talent in Japan

Image
While Americans probably never heard of him, Dave Spector is known to vast majority of Japanese as a Gaijin tarento (foreign TV talent).  Speaking fluent Japanse, Spector enjoys great popularity in the Far Eastern nation, where locates half way around the Earth from his home, the United States.  His interest toward Japan had begun when he had been a fixture in his Japanese neighbor's house, learning the language and cultures as well as became the major cause for him to study at Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan, in 1972. Since 1983, he started his career as a TV talent in the country and distinguished himself not only as a telent but also as a TV producer, commentator and more along with several other foreign talents, who enrich their knowledge of Japan; among them, Spector is a few of them who established their lives in the country as he married a Japanese woman. Today, he appears on several TV shows as a regular member and devel...

Japan's Possible Official Name

Image
Have you ever thought "if you could name your country"? Almost a decade ago, Shintaro Ishihara, who's remaining his position as the Mayer of Tokyo since 1999, invited the public to offer their opinions about possible official name of Japan in 2003; and millions of people, from the young to the old, responded nationwide. The vast majority of them made ironical remarks about Japan and the country's political position, which is swayed between two super-powers, USA and China . When viewed from historical perspective, both are the hardest powers to ignore to learn about Japan. Some even make a mock of Japan as the 51st State , while others argue that the country is the perfect socialistic state despite its democratic features. Here are the samples of Japanese people's answers; and it is another way to learn about the strange county. Socialistic Constitutional Monarch of Japan The Far Eastern Dominion of America Shameless Republic of Japan Peace-at-a...
