Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey NEW TRAILER

Image
The Blue Danube, the ape throwing a piece of bones into the air, neo-futuristic objects floating in the space and so forth; Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey takes its place in the movie history with those remarkably elegant scenes that are still beautiful in the 21st century.  From October to December, The British Film Institute is holding a special event for sch-fi movies - Sci-Fi: Days of Fear and Wonder - and the digital-remastered edition of 2001: A Space Odyssey is going to make its return to the screen during the event. Mark Zuckerberg - Speaking Mandarin at Tsinghua University in Beijing: Learning a New Language Stimulates Your Brain!

Image
Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, answered all questions in Mandarin to the delight of the Chinese audience. Though the language is one of the challenging subjects to westerners, his Mandarin was well understood. The background of his speech was that Tsinghua University's school of Economics and Business appointed him to the school's advisory board along with Tim Cook. Despite the fact that his social network is completely blocked by the Chinese government, his appearance in one of the top Chinese educational institutions indicates his seeking inroads into the Chinese market and collaboration with the country's IT business. But the question is that how did he acquire his Mandarin skill when considering the fact that his wife speaks Cantonese. Want to learn a new language?  A recent study shows that learning a new language stimulates the same part of your bran as SEX. Researchers from Barcelona's Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute and Otto von G...

Ideal and Reality: The Real Tower Cheese Burger Looks Terrible When Compared to Its Ad

Image
Lotteria, a fast-food chain popular in Japan, started to sell a giant tower burger that looks awesome in the above image; despite its hugeness, its somehow organized and looks standing upright perfectly. There would be nothing to complain about only if it stays the same way when it's served to your table.  As always, the reality ruins everything. The below image is something you will get when you order the tower burger. Sticky, dirty, stinky... I have no idea how to eat this monster meal. Hopefully, I don't want to get my hands dirty with its sticky cheese and fats but it seems inevitable. Do you want to try it? You might also like this post Via: Hamusoku

Nestlé FITNESS Bra Cam for Breast Cancer Awareness

Image
Working together with Pink Ribbon Initiative, Nestlé FITNESS was committed to raising breast cancer awareness with a hidden camera in a bra given to a woman who walk across a city with a low-cut shirt. The campaign might focus on an idea: the more staring, the better aware of it! The video counts the number of those who glanced at her breasts, not only men but women and even a dog. But here is one question: is it okay to publish such video that recorded people without their knowledge and permission? You might also like this post Via: YouTube

Only in Japan: How to Play with a Party Doll

Image
If you're a fan of Japanese anime, this video probably reminds you of a legendary series, Ghost in the Shell. The video is an introduction video of what is called "party doll," and it is used as a drink server that lets you pour the contents of the doll from its right breath by squeezing the left breath. It's ridiculous but it's somehow not bad. What do you think? You might also like this post Via: YouTube

Larry Page: Maybe We Don't Have to Work So Hard

Image
At Khosla Ventures public conference, July 3rd, 2014, Google co-founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin discussed what jobs and labor should be from the standpoint of Google. According to Larry Page, in this industrialized world, actual amount of work we need to sustain the world today is less then one per cent;  the problem is that people are not recognized it yet. Also people are not happy when they have nothing to do, and that is exactly why companies employ people, keep destroying the environment. The outcome of it is pretty destructive. Feeling unwanted or unneeded is the last thing people need, but it shouldn't be. Being productive is not what you need, because the world is already productive. Additionally,  global unemployment is kind of a big joke. All we need to solve this problem is to reduce work, letting people have some time to pursue their interests or spend it with their family or friends. Bicycle Crash in Romford

Image
Perhaps this accident is a blessing in disguise. The man in the bike was travelling for gaining some fitness, travelling  around 22mph through Romford to go to London. Due to the dizzy air, it was too late when his hands were in brakes, crashing against a car that was about to turn right. It could have been worse but he was landing on his feet after the crash. Even though it was ended up in being carried into a hospital,  all he got was a small bruise. You might also like this post Via: YouTube

Language Comparison: German vs. Other Languiages

Image
When compared to other major Western languages, German somehow stands out due to its weird vocabularies that is not seen in other ones. Here is an example; when it comes to a word "aeroplane," there are some consistency in French (avion), English (aeroplane), Italy (Aero) and Spanish (Avion), it is somewhat Flugzeug in Germany. And there are many more of those examples that makes German stands out from the rest. By the way, it's evident that the woman who speaks Japanese in the video is not Japanese; plus her Japanese sucks. You might also like this post Via: YouTube DNA

Old Casio Watch with Apple Logo on the Back

Image
We tend to be blind when we comer across brands. This time, it's Apple. In Jimmy Kimmel's show, people were somehow convinced that an old Casio watch with Apple log on the back is actually an Apple's smart-watch that is not existed yet.  What is sad is that when the reporter says "It also shows you the date" or "it has an alarm," people just answered as if they've never seen those features before. It is clear that it neither help their life better nor solve their essential problems. Still people strictly believe in a fantasy that what Apple does is always right. It also suggests the point that anything attached with Apple log could be a commercial success in the world of brands. And here is an TV ad made by Samsung who is in envy of the Apple brand. Anyway, it's all about brands and the question is that why do we care about them? You might also like this post Via: YouTube TechCrunch

Scary Beautiful: Embodiment of Physical Perfection

It is our nature to demand the perfection of ourselves for better or worse. Those shoes embody the idea that people are not satisfied with what they were born with. Christiano Ronald Was Puzzled by a TV Host's Strange Behavior

Image
Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro, known as Cristiano Ronaldo, is a Portuguese soccer player who currently plays as a forward for Spanish club Real Madrid. Recently he made an appearance on a Japanese TV show where he was apparently confused at the sight of the weird behavior of a Japanese TV host. At the show, Ronaldo was asked how he got the muscle, and he introduced a special fitness equipment to train your facial muscle. A Japanese TV host who was given the equipment tried it himself as soon as he got the new toy; but the way he uses it obviously annoyed Ronalso in every way, especially his facial expression that remind me of getting high by smoking something illegal. Bubonic Plague Outbreak in China

Image
The whole population of Yumen in the northwestern part of Gansu, China, has been sealed off after the death of 38-year-old man who had touched a dead marmot, related to squirrel. With the perimeter of the city being restrictively blocked by the local police, no one is allowed to leave the city that reportedly has enough supply to sustain its people inside for a month.   Reportedly, the 38-year-old found the dead marmot and ripped it into peaces to feed his dog. Soon he had a high fever and turned out to be dead within the day. He was  dead of a flea bite; and apparently the flea bit him had attached to the dead marmot.  In the history, the plague was known as the black death in the 14th-century in Europe. Even with the modern technology, there is no vaccine effective against the plague. You might also like this post Via: NAVAR Matome MSN News

Rumor: Russian Gov't Editing Wikipedia on Flight MH 17

Image
Russian Wikipedia page for the flight MH17 A Tweeter bot monitoring  any edits made to Wikipedia from Russian gov't IP addresses Nothing is definite but it's certainly obvious that Russian gov't is drifted into removing some pieces of info inconvenient to it from Wikipedia, such as the probable fact that it provided separatists with missiles that took down the commercial airliner. It was detected by a Tweeter bot monitoring edits to Wikipedia made from Russian gov't IP addresses. US president Barack Obama mentioned that the tragedy was likely done by the separatists and added that without sophisticated weapons they couldn't be able to down the airliner. If it were true, it could be the most embarrassing Wikipedia updates ever in history.  You might also like this post Via: The Telegraph

Social Experiment: Sexy Female Construction Workers

Image
There female construction workers are given a role reversal by calling at male passers-by on the street, and men's response is not what you expect. Anyway, please do not stereo-type them. Some people wonder why they just passed them without saying anything, but men are not that simple-minded. Maybe for the gentlemen on the street, these "beautiful" women were not even close to their tastes. Anyway, this social experiment sounds a little ridiculous.  You might also like this post Via: Zaeega

The Dawn-fall of Putin's Regime?

Image
It's probably a matter of time that Vladimir Putin is going to fall from the power due to the illegal annexation of Crimea as well as the errant missile attack that took down Malaysia Airlines plane over Ukraine, killing innocent 298 people on-board. Here is his press-conference for the errant missile attack against the flight. His depressed expression tells everything. Russia is isolated in the international context, and it is totally caused by his iron-fist rule over the federation. In this global age where no country can protect itself alone, isolation means nothing but downfall of a nation. You might also like this post Via: YouTube

Social Experiment: Holding Japanese Girls' Hands on the Streets

Image
There has always been a belief in Japan that what white people do is always right. Especially, Japanese girls are attracted to white men because they believe that hanging-out with a white man makes them stand-out from all the rest of other girls who ended up hanging-out with Japanese boys.. Here is an example video that gives you an idea how Japanese girls are careless to a white man, and it also shows such a racial advantage white men have when compared to other races. Now I wonder what would happen if an Asian or black man did the same thing as he did. Any thoughts? You might also like this post Via: YouTube
